Hi Peter, only just read your message. Unfortunately George Trunch died in 1982. He started losing his voice and in the end he went to the doctor in Bremen and they opened up his throat and it was full of cancer, he passed away very quickly. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered from the Sea Avon in the Elbe estuary. Alfred was sacked a year before that as the engine was so badly neglected they were forever missing tides etc so the Japanese rep came and did an inspection and it was over 50,000 pounds to put it right so Seacon said either Alfred goes or you are off charter !!!!! all seems a long time ago now.
I am down in the Bay of Chaleur now living in my Trailer for the summer. Its tough though living 5 minutes from the beach & the Pub and forcing myself to eat Lobster, clams & steak but I will persevere !!!!!!!
Nice to hear from you again,
    All the best

    Hi Peter,
I thought I had better come clean as to who I am and how I know you !!!!! I was Mate for over 2 years on the Sea Avon with George Trunsch & Alfred the Engineer, my name is Ian and you will remember me from the time Maurice Brew's Secretary Rosie came aboard at Express Wharf and ended up sailing with me for a month !!!!! Happy Days eh ? Been living in Canada for a lot of years. All the best !!!
