Once again I thank you so very much for posting a great picture -
This time it's the first SINE BRES owned by BRES-LINE - as you know they got her built in Mandal around the mid sixties... (1966) they later had the second and third version of SINE BRES in the company - in fact one of the last remaining BRES-ships today is a SINE BRES

I never sailed in her - but been on board her as guest during visit when we were calling the same harbour at the same time...

I sailed for some years in her sister-ship the CLOVER BRES - remarkable good ships also in gale force winds... rode out a lot of hurricanes and storms on CLOVER BRES in the North-Sea during winters in the sixties - seventies - never had any problems with that - they were very steady like seagoing ducks on the waves -especially with a full cargo of timber on board - both in the hull, deck and on top of the hatch-covers ...

The CLOVER BRES was a nice little (sister)-ship - Been riding a lot of waves and experienced a lot of full blown storms and hurricanes on board this ship without any major problems - A good and strong seagoing ship....
CLOVER and of course us - the crew members on board - even saved the crew-members from an UK-coaster that had capsized and started sinking in the middle of a dark moonless night - Suddenly they started to fire the red rockets into the air at the same time as they were yelling Mayday Mayday Mayday on the radio -
We were nearby - approaching them and when we were really close - we quickly got our rescue boat into the water and rowed over to assist them - we filled our boat with the crew-members and transferred them over to CLOVER - Remember them as good guys - friendly and very polite fellow seamen that were grateful that we had come to their aid in their hour of need - CLOVERS crew shared their cabins and lent out their bunks to the English sailors and shared our private clothings with them so all had the right sizes and were fully and warm dressed when they left the ship a couple of days later...
The ship received many good words-thank you's and honor's later on from the English shipping company and their insurance-company and others - and we even received Christmas-Cards from some of the rescued crew-members that year....
So the CLOVER was a good little ship with great skills... smiler...

Many happy memories from my years in this small ship-type from Mandal BRT= 299'er - TDW= only 840 t's - A lot of work on board - But I loved my years in CLOVER BRES also named SLIGO in the period when the company played "Hide & Seek" with the Danish 'Seaman's Union' - but got the name CLOVER BRES back again afterwards in 1974 - just before she got sold back to the Norwegians...
Always wondered why the owners of BRES-LINE would bother paying the fees to get their ship renamed back to the original name and then sell it - Why didn't they save the money, work & effort and left it for the new owners as "SLIGO" -
