Default THALA DAN at Aalborg Yard in 1973

Aalborg Yard A/S was owned by the shipping company J. Lauritzen A/S, Copenhagen. They also owned Helsingør Yard A/S, Aarhus Yard A/S and Frederikshavn Yard....
That explains a little about one the reasons why a lot of the JL-ships were built by these four yards and why these four yards did so much maintenance-work, developing work, repair-jobs and re-buildings on so many of the ships from J. Lauritzen...
A lot of the Danish shipping companies had their own shipyards too to ensure that they always could place an order on the yard for immediate action... No matter if it was repairs, rebuilding's or newbuilding's or whatever.... They did not have to wait for their turn on their own yards....
