Beaumont ran on rocks at Xagó
Enroute La Coruna-Aviles where it had planned to dock in the early morning, the "Beaumont" ran aground at the beach of Xagó in the Gozón community with a 6 of crew onboard on Dec 12, 2012, at 3 a.m. The ship carried no load. A salvage attempt was to be carried out at high tide scheduled for 3:15 p.m. The vessel control in Gijón had tried to warn the crew at 4.15 a.m. as it noticed the ship was in danger but at this time the crew confirmed that they were already aground. Salvamente Maritimo sent the tug "Salvamar Rigel" and divers from La Coruña to check the hull. A Helimer helicopter based in Gijón was also alerted but as the crew was safe has returned to its base.
