Default OCEANIC and ARCTIC

Sisterships and whilst the OCEANIC remained in Europe, then the ARCTIC was purchased by Kerry Packer and which roamed the world..

Oceanic was built in 1969 and is still operated by Bugsier Reederei.

The Arctic, sistership, was built in 1970 and modified in 1994.
She is now called Arctic-P and is owned by the Packer family of Australia.
Unfortunately Kerry Packer no longer is with us but his son James runs one of the largest media firms in the world.
They converted the vessel into a very luxurious yacht and she surely must be the weirdest looking mega yacht in the world.

HPP just under 20.000 and GRT now stands at 2160.

The pictures show the vessel during her docking in Auckland in 1995 after she grounded and sustained extensive damages , then due to costs involved she was patched up and repaired in Singapore.
Apparently the vessel had to negotiate the right of way with some rocks.....

I did a thorough inspection during drydocking, then had to see her leaving for a cheaper shipyard. Got plenty more photos of the various damages.
I got a nice tour on the vessel assisted by the ch. off although they were very protected by not showing the officers and Owners quarters.
Very luxurious stuff.

In 1997 she had an average 5 day docking cycle in same drydock (Devonport-Auckland-NZ). Photos available in case of interest.
