KARATTA

Australia

The Karatta coming up the the Port River towards Port Adelaide Sth Australia

The Karatta was named after a little township called Karatta on Kangaroo Island (so small you can drive through it with out seeing it) in the central Kangaroo Island region.

I was down on the wharf at Port Adelaide when she came back from her last trip November 1961 and also standing in the same spot when the ship that took over her run came up the river, swung around and went into her berth...the "MV Troubridge"

The old Karatta began in 1907 and paid off in Nov 1961...not long after that I joined the Troubridge, the first of 4 times I was in her

Details posted may not be wholly correct, if you have further details please add it
below...Thank you!
