Hi Rick and Pete, thank you very much for sharing. It was really tragic that the capain/owner didn`t survive after hitting a buoy off Lolland. I`ve been very often onboard the "Haithabu" at Amsterdam, when I was allowed to represent the interest of Otto A. Müller in summer 1971, remember that once I was asked if I can get meat and cold cuts for the galley, order too small for a shipchandler. Problem was that it was Saturday afternoon, shops closed and ship due to sail in a few hours, no supermarkets with their evening opening hours at this time
But they got their provisions, got it through the backdoor of a butcher, could even tell the butcher`s wife who was german born, that the wife of the florist next door was german born too, which was quite a surprise for her.... how I did know, well that is another story , well the ship sailed with a happy cook together with his crew
