For Peter..........

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea’s face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must down go to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way, where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

Rest in Peace,Mate.

Hi all, did send an email to all our members, got this reply from Rienk`s wife :

My condolences for everybody who knew and loved him.

Unfortunatly i have to inform you that my husband Rienk van der Galiën passed away, 61 years old, on the second of july. He allso lost the battle with cancer.

Would you please remove my husbands email adress from your administration?

Best wishes,
Linda van der Galiën

Sad news indeed. Condolences to Peters wife and family. He will be sorely missed on this site with his knowledge of ships and ports. A fair wind and a calm sea old sailor. RIP Peter.

Alec.

Very sad news about both members. It just goes to show that in the internet age how easy it is for us all to keep in touch, but at the same time, if something were to happen, nobody would know unless a family member or friend have access to their account. Pete was only posting a few days ago, even the "Where is this?" page now remains unsolved and we will never receive his answer, even though he last posted in there only a few days ago. Very sad.

My condolences and thoughts are with Pete's wife, family and friends, and also with those of Rienk van der Galiën.
