Can anyone please identify this coaster, photographed at Peterhead in 1977 ? If so I would be very glad. Thank you.

Hi sharpnessship, am sure that you`re correct, she was converted to stone-carrier in 1978, your photo on shipspotting.com is showing her still with a mast midships instead of an excavator.....

Seems that she got no sister as she was the only one of her size built by the Ulstein shipyard

Her details and history according to Mirmar:

IMO: 7221603
Year: 1972
Name: GRETE NIELSEN
Flag: DNK
Type: Cargo ship
Launch Date: 1.6.72
Date of completion:
Tons: 1599
DWT: 3100
Length overall: 91.4
LPP: 82.0
Beam: 15.0
Country of build: NOR
Builder: Ulstein
Location of yard: Ulsteinvik
Yard No: 70
Speed(kn): 13.5

Subsequent History:
[1978 cv to stone carrier, 21.0m beam, 2949gt/3300dw][1991 Lg 99.5/90.7m, 3713/3150dw][2002 cv to pipe-burying vessel] - 78 ROCKY GIANT

End: 2006
Disposal Data:
BU Aliaga 15.3.06

Default Grete nielsen

Dear Both,
Many thanks for your information and helpfulness. Your identification matches everything I can find and what I can decipher of the name. Thus I appreciate your letting me remove this photograph from my unidentified box. Best wishes,
MauriceJ.

Hi Maurice,
thanks you very much for your reply. There is no need to remove your querry, as we hope that by viewing the replies, other members or visitor will be encouraged to ask too

I can shift (copy) the GRETE NIELSEN to her correct berth in "Coasters G", or you can post her there for yourself, if you like
