Passing over the bridge at Rendsburg on the 14th July 2015.
The old steamer docked at Rendsburg is the Icebreaker STETTIN, stopping on her way to Hamburg after visiting Flensburg

View from the Rendsburg railway bridge, showing HOGELAND and DIVINE on the 28th July 2015, DIVINE only shifted berth after discharging, maybe waiting for orders?

Default Kiel Canal

Dierk. Why the need for locks on the Kiel ? Is there an RL difference between the Baltic and the Elbe or is it some other reason

Hi Grahme, the locks on both sides are necessary due to the tides of the River Elbe, while the level of the Baltic Sea is being affected by wind conditions. They allow a constant waterlevel in the Kiel-Canal.
