Mystery steamers
I wonder if anyone can identify the owners of these two vessels, and perhaps provide a name for each ship.
The photographs were taken on the River Tyne in the 1960's. For some reason (lost in the mists of time!) I did not record the complete ships on film. I look forward to your suggestions. Thank you |

The first ship (the one with sort of 'r' on the funnel)has life-belts on the wing of the bridge.A close up scan might determine the name and port on registration. Also, just noticed that the name is on the lifeboat too. They both look like Baltic steamers to me and are either Swede or Finn, maybe German ?. I very much enjoy your photos, keep them coming. Last edited by Rick R.I.P.; 25-11-14 at 08:13 AM. |
