Erria
Hi all, am a bit at loss regarding this vessel, according to Miramar, only one ship listed with this size, but is it really the same one?? Supposed to have been rebuilt......
Well, the stern section seems to be the same, but no conversation mentioned at Miramar Collection of Bangsbo Museum, Frederikshavn - Photographer unknown Thank you very much in advance Kind regards from Hjoerring Kent |

She was rebuilt after fire in 1952-1953

IMO Number: 1,173,049th The ship continued story: 1932:The ship was originally contracted for deployment in Bangkok route and came at the start also to serve on this route. It sailed on her maiden voyage from Copenhagen 5/1 and completed a total of 15 travel on this route. Trip number 16 was a quick trip to India and Malaya . 1937: Rebuilt for deployment on the Pacific route. Arrived Nakskov Shipyard 5/16 and set sail again 6/9 . During the yard stay was the passenger capacity and cold storage capacity increased. There followed eight trips on the Pacific route in the years 1937 until 1940. 1939:On the last of these departed the ship from St. Thomas for home going 27/8 and was thus in the lake at 2 World War . " Erria " had only charge to England and Denmark . It arrived in London 8 / 9th Departing from Copenhagen 11/10 left the ship at its next trip to the Pacific coast via Aalborg and North Shields . 1940: Back in Copenhagen 16/2 with some delay because of the ice situation in the Kattegat. The next trip to the Pacific Coast started from Copenhagen 2 / 3rd It was trip No. 25 " Erria " had come to San Pedro in Los Angeles a few days after 9/4 and was going now an intense activity in terms of how the ship would subsequently be disposed . After a month in San Pedro , the ship was sent to San Francisco and then to Vancouver. It was the result of an agreement between the EAC in the United States and the British naval authorities. It is assumed that UBC was largely instrumental in this transaction as it managed to get " Erria " under British and no Canadian flag. A large part of the crew chose to disembark in the U.S. and later traveled to Denmark , where they arrived during / 6 When the ship came to Vancouver at the end / 5, was found replacement crew for the Mariners signed off . " Erria " hoisted the British flag 7/6. In addition to ensuring the ship's operation under the British flag , obtained UBC to dispose of the ship next trip. It would carry a cargo of petroleum products in containers from USA to Bangkok. " Erria " sailed back to San Francisco for loading and was then westward across the Pacific . It is not clear how the ship then was committed , but subsequent passages of Cape Town with war material were noted : 24/3 eastbound towards Egypt. - 12/7 westbound against England. - 1/11 Liverpool. 13/11 1941: eastbound towards India .. - 30/1 westbound against England. - 2/9 eastbound towards Egypt. - 1942: 12/14 westbound against England. 1945: Later, " Erria " most of its travel between the U.S. East Coast / Canada in a convoy traveling to England. / 2 EAC received information about the ship's operation. It was stated here that " Erria " was engaged in trade between Canada and England. The ship was returned by the British government 3/9 and 12/9 arrived ship to Copenhagen . " Erria " come into service of United Maritime Administration (UMA) . It sailed from Copenhagen 27/9 and made a total of 5 trips between Canada and England. 1946: Only in the autumn came " Erria " back in the EAC line operation and was inserted on the Pacific route. It departed Copenhagen on 24/9 as the first vessel on the route after the war . Until the end of 1949 the vessel performed a total of 7 trips , interspersed with a longer yard stays at B & W , among other things to replace the auxiliary machinery . In the period 1949-51 sailed ERRIA 11 flight between Copenhagen and New York, was the only ship on this route. 1950: / 10 - / 12-1950 had " Erria " docked in New York after a collision in thick fog with the American ship " Pelican State " . The ship now made a single trip to Bangkok route. 1951: " Erria " was departing from Copenhagen 21/10 , recalled to the Pacific route. On this trip, broke out of the mouth of the Columbia River 20/12 fire on board. The fire developed so violently that passengers and crew had to go in boats. Rescue boats with captain and 102 passengers and crew members made it safely to shore , but 9 passengers and 3 crew members were killed . After a temporary repair was wreck dragged the 15.000 km long tour of the Dutch tug " Zwarte Zee " Wilton - Fiijenord in Holland for reconstruction. 1952: Erria " arrived at the yard in Schiedam 5/7 . 1953: After rebuilding the ship sailed from the shipyard in Holland against Copenhagen 13/2 in a new guise . The next trip was to Bangkok route. Up until 1962 carried the following trips : 10 on India route 5 on Bangkok route 3 on the east route and 1 in Australia route. 1962: The last trip went to India and after unloading the ship went to Japan, which it had been sold for scrap . " Erria " was delivered to the buyers Sangyo Shinko Kisen Kaisha Osaka 26/5 . |

In Copenhagen-New York service, 1949-1951. Burned off Astoria, U.S.A. while bound for Portland, 22 December 1951 with 33 passengers aboard (8 passengers and 3 members of the crew lost their lives?). Vessel was salvaged, towed into Astoria for unloading, then to Portland for emergency repairs and finally to the Netherlands for refit. 1952/3. Rebuilt at Wilton-Fijenoord, Schiedam, Netherlands and redelivered 1953 as cargo ship; black hull, two masts and funnel. 1962 sold to Okayu & Co, Tokyo March 1962 for scrapping. Last voyage 21/5/1962 from Yokohama to Osaka where scrapped.
