Hans Mærsk was too damaged to sail by her own power, so she was towed home to Denmark for repairs at Svendborg Yard. 21-03-1940, she went aground near Hattorp Rev and once again she went to the yard in Svendborg for repairs. From 1940 till 1945, this time period she was under German control. 14-06-1945, but a month after the WW2 in Europe ended she was once again part in a collision.
