KOORINGA
Kooringa (3) Australian I have heard she was the first cellular Container ship in the world, I am not 100% but that has been passed around. Originally 3,373 gross tons. 5,976 gross tons, 6,694 deadweight. Lb: 110.6 x 15.15 metres. Steel hulled motorship built 1964 at the State Dockyard, Newcastle New South Wales for this concern. Single screw diesel making 16 knots. Converted into World's first cellular container vessel under Associated Steamships Pty Ltd (ASP). being 5,976 gross tons, 6,694 deadweight. Lb: 126.2 x 19.1 metres. 30th April 1976 sold to a Bulkships subsidiary, Hull Investments Ltd., Hong Kong and sailed for Singapore. Sold again 1976 to Hong Kong Island Line renamed Island Container (335 teu). 1989 renamed Fair Union. 1989 renamed United Way.
